There are many reasons to love The Big Bang Theory — the quirky characters, the accuracy of science jokes, the spot-on humour of the sitcom (which is a genre of TV that is slowly dying in the OTT age). But one of the main reasons to keep watching the show, is Amy Farrah Fowler.
Played by the extremely talented GENIUS, Mayim Bialik (actor, PhD in Neuroscience, musician of the harp, piano and other instruments, multilinguist and is ambidextrous), Amy Farrah Fowler had a real character growth on screen. From being awkward and robotic, she bloomed to become one of the brightest, funniest, most versatile characters on the show. And the main reason why I stuck with The Big Bang Theory until the end.
Here are 5 real reasons why she’s the best part of TBBT:
1. Her ability to make us laugh and cry at the same time
Amy grew up as your typical nerd: without friends, socially awkward, a bit odd. But she comes across as so innocent and lovable in the show that you can’t help but sympathise. Every time you feel sorry for her, she just makes you laugh. Which also teaches us to not feel pity for the underdog.
2. She’s a frickin’ GENIUS
Amy is a neurobiologist who won the Nobel Prize for Physics. She theorised super-asymmetry along with Sheldon, a theoretical physicist. If that doesn’t spell out GENIUS, I don’t know what does.
3. She puts up with Sheldon like nobody else can
Sheldon’s selfish, crazy, self-obsessed, narcissistic, clueless side is intolerable to us all, but somehow, Amy manages to deal with him. With love, that too. Also, she took things super slow with Sheldon physically, even though it was killing her on the inside. Amy Farrah Fowler deserved the Nobel Prize simply for tolerating Sheldon.
4. The cutest things make her happy
Amy is so relatable. Sure, on the outside she’s a genius scientist strutting around with a Nobel-winning brain. But on the inside, she’s just a girl who loves tiaras and feeling like a princess. Amy’s happiness on becoming one is all of us. Don’t lie.
5. She’s fire and she knows it!
Amy is a scientist, a genius, a good person, and hot AF. And she knows it! A perfect role model for everybody.
