Prabhas isn’t just a name anymore; it’s symbolic of one of the finest performers in our country, symbolic of the iconic Bahubali franchise, symbolic of pure talent. 1. His real name isn’t Prabhas
Yup, you read that correctly. Born Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, he is known all over the country (and the world) as the one and only, Prabhas.
2. His all time favourite Telugu film is Bhakta Kannappa
Bhakta Kannappa stars Prabhas’s own uncle, Krishnam Raju. The 1976 film follows the life of Thinnadu, an atheist, who refuses to bow down to his village goddess after winning a fight. However, an incident changes his mind and he becomes an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva
3. He made a cameo in Ajay Devgan’s 2011 film, Action Jackson
Remember Action Jackson? Me neither. But, go back and watch the film closely now, because makes an appearance. It’s just for a little while, but that’s fine. He more than made up for that screentime later.
4. The secret behind his Bahubali look
Prabhas was a visual treat in the Bahubali series, but there was a lot of hard work that went behind making his bulky look. He followed a non-veg diet to gain around 20 kg of pure muscle, a strict diet to maintain his physique. But once a month he had a cheat day of sorts, and that’s when he’d eat his favourite cuisine: biryani. You and I are so similar, Prabhas. I love biryani too.
5. Prabhas is the youngest of three children
Prabhas has two older siblings: an elder brother, Pramod Uppalapati, and a sister, Pragathi. He graduated from Sri Chaitany College, Hyderabad, with a B.Tech degree. Thank God for us that he chose another career path.
6. Rajkumar Hirani is one of his favourite directors
It’s like we’re the same person. According to news reports, Prabhas has watched Munnabhai MBBS and 3 Idiots around 20 times. This Rajkumar Hirani fan would love to star in one of his films. Yup, you read this right: Prabhas is just as much of a fanboy as us.
7. There is a full on volleyball court in his own home
How cool is that?! Well, if I were the lead in a multi-crore international blockbuster, I would build multiple volleyball courts all over my mansion. Apparently, in order to really bulk up his physique for Baahubali, Prabhas installed the court in his backyard so that he’d always have access to a sport. And I must say, the plan worked.
8. Prabhas has been immortalized at the iconic Madame Tussauds
What an incredible honour, and one that Prabhas has rightly earned. The superstar has a wax statue of his own in London’s Madame Tussauds, which apparently has the highest number of selfie clicks and snaps. No surprise there. He’s immortalized for good.
